For oiled pieces outdoors they will need maintenance anytime the wood is looking dry. The more regular maintenance, the better for the wood. With large wood slab tables, the wood will expand and contract with changes in the environment. When this happens, the wood can develop small hairline cracks. Humidity: Keep the humidity at a consistent level. With solid wood furniture, it “breathes” and when it’s humid it will expand and when it’s dry it will shrink. Our custom wood tables have been properly kiln dried to bring the table within normal range for home or office environments. We recommend keeping at 40-60% relative humidity. Not only is the proper humidity in your home good for your health, it is also good for your table.
